Public Safety Liaison

Michael Ayers is our Police Operations Manager. He has lived in the Acworth area since 1996 and has been employed with the City of Acworth for the last seven years, most recently as a Detention Officer. His prior work experience includes almost twenty years with a large commercial retailer where he reached the level of Management. Mr. Ayers possesses a technical certification in electronics and has completed numerous hours of training in personnel management. His current role includes leading the Public Safety Liaisons and managing our department facilities and fleet.
The Public Safety Liaison Unit consists of the Police Operations Manager, Mike Ayers, and four other team members. The PSL team members are each assigned to a patrol shift and perform various duties that do not necessitate the use of a certified officer. The PSL team members’ primary function is to transport detainees to the required detention facility. The PSL Unit was created after the closing of the Acworth City Jail and helped to ensure that patrol officers are free to patrol the city without extended absences due to performing prisoner transport.
