Office of Professional Standards
The goal of the Acworth Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards and Training is to achieve the highest levels of excellence and professionalism by leading the way with advanced education, realistic training, and tactically sound methodologies. We will strive to develop our officers both mentally and physically, so as to ensure the safety and security not only of each officer, but for the citizens, merchants and visitors of the City of Acworth as well.
The Office of Professional Standards and Training oversees the recruitment of all police personnel and the Field Training Officer Program. The Training Office is responsible for the assessment of the department’s training needs, and the development and implementation of structured programs to meet those needs. Other than Sergeant Montcalm, the unit is comprised of one full time sergeant and a part time officer.
The Acworth Police Department has a well-rounded staff of instructors who complement the Office of Professional Standards and Training. Their broad expertise includes general instruction, active shooter, speed detection, firearms, criminal investigations, defensive tactics, DUI detection and standardized field sobriety testing.
The Acworth Police Department continuously accepts applications. Applications are kept on file for a period of six months. If anytime within those six months we start the hiring process, we will review the applications at that time.
All citizen complaints must be made in person at the police department.
