The Acworth Police Department also accepts applicants who are not currently certified.
Uncertified officers will earn $52,635.44 ($23.54 hr)
Public Safety Liaison officers will earn $47,805.98 ($21.38 hr)

Other Compensation:
  • On-Call Court Pay
  • Officers assigned as a Field Training Officer
  • Officers assigned to specialized units (Criminal Investigations, K-9, Special Operations)
  • Shift differential of $1.00 per hour for night shift

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age for Patrol
  • High school diploma or GED
  • GA Driver's License
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to perform the duties expected of a Patrol Officer
  • Completion of the Georgia POST physical agility test

Recruitment Process

Step #1 - Employment application and physical agility test
Applicants should complete an employment application online. Selected applicants will be scheduled for a Physical Agility Test. Candidates should wear comfortable clothing for physical activity. Upon successful completion of the Georgia P.O.S.T. mandated Physical Agility Test applicants will given a background packet to be completed before interview.

Step #2 - Oral panel interview
This will be a panel interview with officers of various rank. You will be required to wear business attire and arrive on time for your schedule interview. After the panel concludes all questions, officers will discuss the results. The candidate will be notified if they were recommended or not recommended for further consideration of employment.

Step #3 - Background investigation
A thorough background investigation of the candidate’s application and background packet will be conducted. During this step, an investigator will review all documents, employment history, criminal history, driving history, and references.

Step #4 - Conditional offer of employment
If a vacancy exists, once the candidate successfully passes the oral panel interview, the candidate will be made an offer of employment conditional upon completing a background investigation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, medical screen, and a drug screen.

Step #5 - Polygraph, psychological evaluation, physical & drug screen
The candidate will be notified by an investigation of their schedule date and times for each evaluation.
