Lieutenant Charles R. Ball is currently assigned to the Office of Professional Standards. His duties include a multitude of tasks such as handling all citizen complaints concerning possible police misconduct, coordinating all training for the Acworth Police Department, and assuring that the department is up to date on all policies and training geared towards obtaining the State of Georgia Accreditation for law enforcement.
Lieutenant Ball has over twenty years of law enforcement experience and has worked in many different capacities during this tenure such as: Uniform Patrol Division Commander, Shift Supervisor, Field Training Officer, Training Coordinator, D.U.I. Task Force, Bicycle Patrol and Patrolman.
Lieutenant Ball is a Desert Storm veteran and has an Honorable Discharge as a United States Army Sergeant. He is a graduate of the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
The goal of the Acworth Police Department’s Office of Training & Personnel is to achieve the highest levels of excellence and professionalism by leading the way with advanced education, realistic training, and tactically sound methodologies. We will strive to develop our officers both mentally and physically, so as to ensure the safety and security not only of each officer, but for the citizens, merchants and visitors of the City of Acworth as well.
The Office of Training & Personnel oversees the recruitment of all police personnel & the Field Training Officer Program. The Training Office is responsible for the assessment of the department’s training needs, and the development and implementation of structured programs to meet those needs.
The Acworth Police Department has a well-rounded staff of instructor’s who complement the Office of Training and Personnel. Their broad expertise includes general instruction, speed detection, firearms, criminal investigations, defensive tactics, DUI detection and standardized field sobriety testing.
The Acworth Police Department continuously accepts applications. Applications are kept on file for a period of six months. If anytime within those six months we start the hiring process, we will review the applications at that time.
